IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card Review (2026)
Sources checked 30 September 2026 (RBL Bank documents) · sources
Quick verdict: The IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card is best for high fuel savings (indianoil). It earns up to 8.5% on IndianOil fuel, with an annual fee of Rs 1,500 (waiver on Rs 2.75L spend). XTRA earns 15 Fuel Points per Rs 100 at listed IndianOil stations on up to about Rs 13,333 a month, worth 7.5% when points are converted to XTRAREWARDS at IndianOil pumps but 1.5% on the RBL portal, plus a surcharge refund of up to Rs 200 a month; against the standard IndianOil RBL card its Rs 1,500 + GST fee (Rs 1,770.00) pays off in our patterns, at the pump value, narrowly from Rs 10,000 and clearly from Rs 25,000 of monthly spend, and the 250 litres RBL quotes assume Rs 45,000 of monthly spend; see Our Analysis below.
Overview
The IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA is a heavy-duty fuel card that delivers up to 8.5% total savings at IndianOil outlets — among the highest fuel returns in India — and can yield around 250 litres of free fuel a year on Rs 45,000 of monthly spend, by RBL Bank figures.
It is best for high-mileage drivers who fuel up at IndianOil; lighter drivers may prefer the lower-fee standard IndianOil RBL card.

Our Analysis: When the XTRA Upgrade Pays for Its Higher Fee
Our analysisRBL issues two IndianOil cards, and the XTRA differs from the standard one mainly in rate, caps and fee. The decision is therefore an upgrade calculation: at what IndianOil fuel bill and total spend do the extra points, the larger surcharge refund and the quarterly milestone outweigh a fee that is Rs 1,180.00 higher with GST.
1. The two variants side by side
| Term (RBL) | XTRA | Standard IndianOil RBL card |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Points at IndianOil outlets | 15 per Rs 100, up to 2,000 a month | 10 per Rs 100, up to 1,000 a month |
| IndianOil spend that reaches the cap | About Rs 13,333 a month | Rs 10,000 a month |
| Other eligible spends | 2 per Rs 100 | 1 per Rs 100 |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | Up to Rs 200 a month, on transactions of Rs 500–Rs 4,000 | Up to Rs 100 a month |
| Quarterly milestone | 1,000 Fuel Points on Rs 75,000 a calendar quarter | None stated |
| Annual fee (with GST) | Rs 1,500 + GST (Rs 1,770.00), waived on Rs 2,75,000 a year | Rs 500 + GST (Rs 590.00), waived on Rs 1,75,000 a year |
| Welcome Fuel Points (fee must be paid) | 3,000 | 1,000 |
| Free fuel RBL quotes | Up to 250 litres a year on Rs 45,000 of monthly spend | Up to 100 litres a year on Rs 20,000 of monthly spend |
Issuer factOne Fuel Point is worth Rs 0.50 when converted to IndianOil XTRAREWARDS (3 Fuel Points = 5 XTRAREWARDS points at Rs 0.30 each) and redeemed at IndianOil pumps, and Rs 0.10 on the RBL rewards portal. Accelerated points apply only at IndianOil stations whose terminals IndianOil has listed for the offer. CalculationAt the pump value XTRA earns 7.5% at IndianOil and 1.0% elsewhere; at the portal value, 1.5% and 0.2%.
2. Five monthly patterns, renewal year
AssumptionAll fuel is bought at listed IndianOil stations in transactions of Rs 500 to Rs 4,000 (so the surcharge refund applies, which we also assume for the standard card), a 1% surcharge is levied on each fuel transaction, all other spend is eligible, spending is the same every month, and points are valued at the Rs 0.50 pump rate unless stated. IndianOil spend above the cap is counted as earning nothing, since RBL states no rate for it.
| Monthly pattern | XTRA net a year | XTRA net at portal value | Standard card net a year | XTRA minus standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 2,000 IndianOil fuel, Rs 3,000 other | Rs 347 | Rs −1,381 | Rs 747 | Rs −400 |
| Rs 3,000 IndianOil fuel, Rs 7,000 other | Rs 1,705 | Rs −1,127 | Rs 1,565 | Rs 140 |
| Rs 6,000 IndianOil fuel, Rs 14,000 other | Rs 5,180 | Rs −484 | Rs 4,310 | Rs 870 |
| Rs 10,000 IndianOil fuel, Rs 15,000 other | Rs 12,584 | Rs 2,344 | Rs 6,684 | Rs 5,900 |
| Rs 13,500 IndianOil fuel, Rs 31,500 other | Rs 17,488 | Rs 3,264 | Rs 7,178 | Rs 10,310 |
- CalculationNet = Fuel Points value − any surcharge not refunded − GST on the surcharge (never refunded) − annual fee where that year’s spend is below the waiver threshold; redemption fees are not deducted. In the smallest pattern the standard card nets Rs 400 more; from Rs 10,000 a month XTRA is ahead, by Rs 870 at Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,900 at Rs 25,000, where its fee is waived and the quarterly milestone (Rs 500 each quarter) starts to count.
- CalculationIn the last pattern, the Rs 45,000 monthly spend RBL uses for its 250-litre figure, XTRA earns 35,560 Fuel Points a year, worth Rs 17,780 at the pump value. RBL does not state the fuel price behind its litre figure, so we keep to rupees.
- Our analysisTaking points through the RBL portal instead of IndianOil pumps cuts their value to a fifth, so XTRA only makes sense for someone who will redeem at IndianOil.
3. Year one, and the costs around the fuel benefit
- Issuer factThe welcome Fuel Points need a retail transaction above Rs 500 within 30 days and payment of the first-year fee by its due date; RBL adds that the fee waiver “is applicable only if the annual fees is paid”. A Fuel & Auto fee of 1% applies to each fuel or auto transaction above Rs 10,000, capped at Rs 3,000. GST on the fuel surcharge is not reversed, and the refund is not given on delinquent, over-limit or closed cards.
- CalculationIn year one the larger welcome bonus is worth Rs 1,000 more at the pump value, offsetting part of the Rs 1,180.00 fee gap. RBL charges Rs 99 + GST (Rs 116.82) per redemption on all its cards; its documents do not say whether converting Fuel Points to XTRAREWARDS counts as one, so converting in large batches limits the cost if it does.
- Issuer factForex markup up to 3.5% and interest up to 3.99% a month (47.88% a year). Utilities, insurance, rent, wallets, education, railways, government services, cash and EMI conversions earn no Fuel Points and do not count toward the waiver or the milestone. The card is offered on Mastercard and RuPay; UPI payments need the RuPay card, and offline RuPay UPI payments under Rs 2,000 at small merchants earn nothing.
4. Who it suits, and when the standard variant fits better
- Our analysisXTRA suits drivers who refuel at listed IndianOil stations every month and whose total card spend reaches about Rs 25,000 a month, the level at which both the Rs 2,75,000 fee waiver and the Rs 75,000 quarterly milestone are met.
- Our analysisAt Rs 5,000 of total monthly spend the lower fee of the standard variant outweighs XTRA’s higher rates in our patterns, the gap at Rs 10,000 is small, and anyone who refuels mostly at other brands gets little from either card.
CalculationMethod: fees include 18% GST (fee × 1.18). Fuel Points value = points × Rs 0.50 (pump route) or Rs 0.10 (portal), both RBL’s stated values. Surcharge cost = 1% of fuel plus 18% GST on it, less the refund up to each card’s monthly cap. Fees and waiver thresholds are RBL’s; the spending patterns, the 1% surcharge level and the steady renewal year are ours.

How much free fuel can I get?
Up to around 250 litres a year through accumulated Fuel Points on Rs 45,000 of monthly spend — about 2.5 times the 100 litres RBL quotes for the standard IndianOil RBL card on Rs 20,000 of monthly spend.
Is the higher fee worth it?
For high-mileage drivers who fuel at IndianOil, the extra savings and 3,000 welcome points justify the Rs 1,500 fee; lighter drivers may prefer the standard variant.
Before You Apply
The 7.5% applies only at IndianOil stations listed for the offer, only on up to about Rs 13,333 of IndianOil fuel a month, and only if Fuel Points are converted to XTRAREWARDS and redeemed at IndianOil pumps; on the RBL portal they are worth a fifth as much. The annual fee is waived on Rs 2.75 lakh of eligible yearly spend, the welcome points need the first-year fee to be paid, and fuel or auto transactions above Rs 10,000 attract a 1% fee. Pay each statement in full: interest on a carried balance can quickly exceed the rewards earned.
